How is my teacher selected?

Students are matched to a qualified music teacher by a Counselor in the Office of Admissions. Counselors consider numerous factors when matching a student to a teacher including age, experience level, musical interests and instrument choices. You are matched to the teacher the Counselors (and a pretty neat algorithm) believe will be the best match.

What if I don’t like my teacher?

If at any time you are not completely satisfied with your teacher, let a Counselor know right away and you will immediately be matched to a new teacher. No awkward conversations, simply get rematched and never see that teacher again.

What kind of music will be taught?

You learn the music styles you want to learn! We match a certified teacher to your skill level, style, interests, and goals.

How soon can I start lessons?

After completing your Student Profile and Billing Profile, you will be matched with a teacher. You could begin lessons the same week.

The first step is to register online.

Can I have a lesson every other week?

Yes, we call this ‘Bi-Monthly’.  When you register online, simply select the ‘Bi-Monthly’ lessons option.

Can I have more than 1 lesson per week?

Yes, we call this ‘Bi-Weekly’.  When you register online, simply select the ‘Bi-Weekly’ lessons option.

Where is the School of Voice?

The School of Voice is headquartered in Winston-Salem, NC and serves students across the Southeast.

When do I pay?

After you have registered and completed your student profile you will be asked to set up a billing profile. Your card will be charged when you submit your Billing Profile, and then again every month on the same day.

How can I pay?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

Is there a contract?

No contract with us, ever. Cancel anytime. Rejoin anytime.

How does the monthly payment work?

You will be billed at the time you complete your billing profile and every month following on the same date (ie June 15, July 15, etc).

Can I take a trial lesson?

We do not offer trial lessons at this time. We recommend you speak with a Counselor regarding your goals.

Do I need any instruments or books?

All music and printed materials will be provided by your teacher.

When you enroll in an instrument such as piano, guitar, or bass, you will need that instrument in order to be able to practice and learn in your lesson.

We encourage all students to have at least a basic keyboard in their home.

What if I need to change my lesson time?

Not a problem! Simply submit a day change request and your counselor will reschedule your lesson day and time. There may be a fee for lesson day change requests.

What happens if I miss a lesson?

Not a problem. Your teacher will see you the next week. We do not give refunds for missed lessons.
